Tinto Coffee or "EL TINTO, EL TINTICO" is the most popular coffee-based beverage in Colombia. It is a black cup of coffee and depending on the region it could be between 4oz to 10oz of coffee. Generally, it is made using the pour over method with a cloth filter.

The first record of a public place serving coffee dates back to 1475. Kiva Han was the name of the first coffee shop. It was located in the Turkish city of Constantinople (now Istanbul).

The Pour Over Brewing Method Typically, tintos are made by pouring two cups of water into the pot and bringing it to a boil. Adding a heaping amount of coffee grounds to the boiling water will encourage the grounds to sink to the bottom of the pot for maximum flavor.

The first coffeehouses appeared in the Muslim world in the 15th century. The first coffeehouses appeared in Damascus. These Ottoman coffeehouses also appeared in Mecca, in the Arabian Peninsula in the 15th century, then spread to the Ottoman Empire's capital of Istanbul in the 16th century and in Baghdad.
